マナガツオは思い出深い魚。My memorable fish, butterfish.

子供の頃、食卓に出る魚で大好きだったのがマナガツオ。今は高級魚だそうだが、たまに食べていた覚えがある。40年程前にどの位の値段だったのか分からないが出てきた時は嬉しかった。

When I was a child (almost 40 years ago), butterfish (in Japanese MANAGATSUO) was my favorite fish at evening meal.  I didn't know how much it was then, now it is very expensive. A pan size one costs more than 4000 yen.

旨かったという記憶はあるのだが、さて、煮付けで食べたのか、塩焼きで食べたのか、とんと思い出せない。思い出すのは、繊維が長く柔らかい身。味は鰺に近かったように思う。胸鰭の付けの筋肉質の色の濃い身が特に好きだった。

My memory is just its deliciousness,  I have forgot how we eat it, grilled or boiled with soy source. I remembered long-threaded and tender meat, taste like mackerel. Especially I like pectoral fin base muscle.
